Chef Sherry Swanson of A Culinary Experience teaches classes in several locations, Williams Sonoma, in Danbury, Jones Family Farms in Shelton, and at Blackrock in Fairfield, CT. Chef Sherry also does customized, private, in-home cooking classes.


New Classes in Fairfield County - Blackrock

Classes are hands-on and include; instruction, recipes, food, and wine. Classes last about 2.5 hours. You can register online below by selecting the number of people attending. The cost for these classes is $75 per person or sign up with a friend and save. $65 per person when you sign up with a friend. No refunds within one week of class. If unable to attend you may send a substitute or request recipes.

Saturday, March 13th - 6:30pm
An Elegant Passover:
Rabbi Rachel Gurevitz from Congregation B'nai Israel will join us for this one-of-a-kind class. We will work together to create a delicious meal and Rabbi Rachel Gurevitz wil talk with us abou the Seder table. This is sure to be a memorable evening.

Lots of Pasta
Everyone loves making fresh pasta. It brings out the kid in you. Join us to learn how to make fresh pasta from simple ingredients. The sauces that you will learn to make are wonderful on fresh pasta as well as dried pasta.

Fresh Herb Pesto and Shrimp Linguine
Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Sage and Brown Butter Sauce

Jones Family Farms Cooking Classes

A Culinary Experience and Jones Family Farms are continuing our series of hands-on cooking classes and wine events. Classes will focus on fresh, local ingredients. These classes will help you make the most of the finest Connecticut has to offer. For directions to Jones Family Farms click here.

Provencal Style in Connecticut:
Wednesday, August, 19 6:00-8:30pm
Wednesday, August, 22, 12:30-3:00pm

Use the produce and products of our local farmers & fishermen to create an authentic Mediterranean meal.

Menu: Ratatouille, Grilled Nicoise Salad, Provencal Tomatoes, Collection of French Breads, Lemon Tart with Lavendar Flowers


What to Expect:
Harvest Kitchen classes are entirely hands-on rather than demonstration and are taught by Jean Jones, MPH, RD and Sherry Swanson. In each class, you’ll learn how to prepare 4 recipes from start to finish. We are passionate about using fresh, local ingredients and you’ll learn where to source and select the best that Connecticut has to offer. You’ll learn new cooking techniques, tips and tricks. You will finish each class with new skills, fond memories, and a greater level of confidence in the kitchen and maybe even a few new friends. Class size averages 12 people. We supply all ingredients, tools, aprons, and of course, recipes. A full meal and three wines are served in regular cooking classes, with a hands-on cooking time of about 90 minutes.

What to Wear for Cooking Class:
Comfortable clothing and flat, closed-toe shoes are required for your safety and comfort. Please avoid high heels, sandals and long loose sleeves.

Cost:
$75.00 per person. Parent/Child classes are $75.00 per pair. A full meal & wine are included in the cost. Additionally, you keep your wine glass, class recipes, and apron.

Wine Down Friday Affairs At the Harvest Kitchen

What to Expect:
A cordial Friday evening gathering to enjoy a selection of regional cheeses and seasonal food dishes along with four selected Jones wines. Learn about wine pairing from a Jones expert and see a quick food demo.

Cost:
$28.00 per person. Includes light dinner, wine, a Jones wine glass and recipes for the food prepared.

Private Culinary Classes

Entertain your guests with a hands-on cooking class in your home or in a gourmet teaching kitchen. You and your friends will enjoy an intimate evening of food and fun. Our engaging chefs will share their passion for good food, as well as some expert techniques and tricks. Then enjoy the feast you have created while our staff serves it to you and cleans up. Our cooking classes are designed for the home cook, from beginner to advanced, who wants to broaden their culinary skills in a fun and relaxed environment. We focus on cooking from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients and traditional French and Italian techniques. You will finish each class with new skills, fond memories, and a greater level of confidence in the kitchen.


A Culinary Experience cooking class parties are a delicious way to celebrate birthdays, bridal showers, and other special occasions.

Enjoy wine? In our wine tasting classes we teach you the basics, focusing on different grape varietals or wine regions of the world. We can also pair your favorites entrees or hors d’oeuvres with the perfect wine. A great way to spend an evening with friends.
